Parents are a vital part of any well-run Scout troop. Each Scout deserves at least one caring adult. Being a Scout parent is also a learning experience: it is difficult to let go and allow our youths to manage themselves. The reward comes as we watch our children grow into young adults who can handle the conflicts, problems, and issues life throws at them. This is the process of watching our Scouts develop into leaders.
The Troop Committee
Leaders also need support and governance. The troop is supported by an adult board, the Troop Committee, which sets a budget, coordinates troop activities, and helps the Scoutmaster and the Scouts carry out the outdoor program and other activities. Most committee positions take an hour a month or less.
The Troop Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month, 7:30–8:45 PM during the troop meeting, in the basement “Couch Room” at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Adult leaders
All adult leaders must complete training to take part with the troop. Background checks are also required.
