Evanston Troop 924 Wins the Boy Scout District Klondike Cup

Evanston-- Boy Scouts from Troop 924 took home the trophy at this years annual Potawatomi District Klondike Cup on Saturday, February 4th.
The event was held at Camp Oakarro in Wadsworth, Illinois. Like Yukon prospectors from the Gold Rush era, Scouts ordinarily pull their equipment dog sled style through the snow. The recent mild weather this year made mud the challenge, so most sleds substituted wheels for skis. Skills the Scouts were required to demonstrate included using a compass, tying knots, fire building, and figuring out a way to get the gear cross an imaginary river. More than 90 Boy Scouts participated.


Klondike Derby - Feb. 4, 2012

Troop 924 will be participating in the Klondike Derby on Saturday, February 4 from 9 am to 4 pm. For more information, see the Northeast Illinois Council website.














Kick-Off Picnic - Tuesday, August 30th

Families and friends of Troop 924 will be getting together for our first event of the year, a picnic at the lakefront.
 
WHEN:   
Tuesday, August 30, 2011, 6:30 pm

WHAT to BRING:  
A main dish for your family and a side dish or dessert to share. (We will not be grilling, so please don't bring something that needs cooking.)
Chairs and/or blankets to sit on.
 
 WHERE:
Dawes Park, Sheridan Rd & Lake St.

RSVP to Mindy Wallis by Thursday the 25th with what you will bring and how many people will be attending.
 
If it rains, we'll picnic at:  Northminister Presbyterian Church.

Summer Meetings

Monday June 27 - 7:00 p.m.: meeting at Northminster Church to work on the Merit Badge First Aid.  Some of you can finish the Merit Badge, some of you have the opportunity to start the Merit Badge. For those who already have the Merit Badge, it is a good opportunity to refresh what you have learned.

July 2 - 10:00 a.m.: Meeting at The Richter's to prepare the float for the 4th of July parade.  We have to accomplish some paint jobs, eat some good hot dogs and finish of with either soccer or Frisbee match in the nearby Park.

July 4 - 1:15 pm: Meet at the corner of Central Street and Central Park - Parade

High Adventure Trip:

Congratulations to Matthew Smiley - Eagle Scout

Troop 924 is proud to congratulate Matthew Smiley on becoming an Eagle Scout on October 14, 2010. He celebrated his Eagle Court of Honor on June 5, 2011.

Open House & Chili Night - Monday, May 16
